About Us

Vuslen started with a box of old family photos and film that were quietly falling apart.

If you’ve opened a box like that, you might know the smell. That faint vinegar tang is a chemical reaction eating the film from the inside, and there’s even a name for it: vinegar syndrome. Once it starts, it doesn’t stop on its own. The colors fade, the negatives curl, and whatever was captured on them starts slipping away for good.

When we looked at how people were meant to save all this, both options were bad. You could mail your only copies off to a scanning service, pay well over a thousand dollars for a large collection, and hope the package didn’t vanish somewhere in transit. Or you could buy a regular scanner and then wrestle with software and cables just to turn one photo into a file. Neither felt right for the people who needed it most, who were usually the ones least interested in a tech project.

So we made something that fits on a kitchen table and just works. No computer, no software to install. You turn it on and you’re going, which matters a lot when the person doing the rescuing is a parent or grandparent who’d rather not call for help every few minutes.

Who we build for

We build for people trying to save things that can’t be replaced. Parents and grandparents sitting on aging film and photographs, family historians who’ve become the unofficial keeper of everyone’s memories, anyone who wants the next generation to actually see where they came from. Your originals never leave your hands. That was the point from the start.

What we stand behind

Two things, really. What we make has to hold up to normal use and do its job without frustrating you, or it doesn’t earn a place in the catalogue. And when you write in, a real person answers, usually within a few hours, any day of the week. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
